Is There a Home Out There for Broken-hearted Bullseye?

Is There a Home Out There for Broken-hearted Bullseye?

| by Editor | Posted in Telford Pets

Handsome, quiet and loving, Bullseye the American Bulldog has been a cherished resident at Hilbrae Rescue Kennels in Cold Hatton, Telford, for three years. At only four years old, this stunning boy has spent three-quarters of his life not knowing the love of a real family and has no sofa to call his own.

Abandoned by his human family at just 12 months old, Bullseye was taken in by Hilbrae in 2014. His previous family sent a message to the kennels via Facebook just once to check on him (which is how Hilbrae could determine his breed), but other than that his background is pretty much unknown.

Bullseye thought his luck had changed last year when a young couple offered him a home. Hilbrae conducted extensive checks, as they do with any dog to be rehomed, but sadly Bullseye was returned to Hilbrae after just 24 hours because he became distressed when left alone.

After reading a plea for help from Cheryl, one of Bullseye’s amazing carers at Hilbrae, we went to see this handsome chap for ourselves and were bowled over by his cleverness and polite, calm manner. Bullseye knows how to walk to heel, he can sit and give paw on command and has an excellent recall when off lead for a run around the secure paddock.

Like most dogs who are offered a tasty treat in return for good behaviour, Bullseye is highly food motivated, so if he is lucky enough to find a new, loving home, he would really benefit from regular training and socialisation. We can recommend our community partner, Sharon Kelly, who runs excellent dog training classes in Telford and one-to-one sessions, using treats and lots of TLC as motivation.

If you think you could have room for Bullseye in your heart and your home, here are the things you need to know:

Key facts about American Bulldogs from Your Pure Breed Puppy:

  • Muscular and powerful
  • Looks imposing but are very good natured with adults and children
  • Easy to groom
  • Loves vigorous exercise
  • Can be strong-willed, so needs an owner who can take charge
  • Can be slobbery and gassy
  • Needs lots of socialisation

If you’re interested in Bullseye, call Hilbrae to arrange a visit or send them a message on Facebook.

Even if Bullseye is not for you, there are more than 50 homeless dogs currently living at Hilbrae, all in need of someone special to give them the love they desperately need and deserve.
