Patisserie Valerie Telford - Review by Bethany Bakes

Patisserie Valerie Telford - Review by Bethany Bakes

Telford Shopping Centre featured an event called Foodilicious on Monday 1st May. This event was a celebration of the food across Telford Shopping Centre and the new Southern Quarter development.

Along with entertainment, including drumming on old dustbin lids from talented musicians, BangOn, plus face-painting and prize wheels, the main feature of the event was the official opening of TGIFridays, Prezzo, and Patisserie Valerie.

My family and I popped into Patisserie Valerie for tea and cake; nestled in the corner of Debenhams, in the Telford Shopping centre. There was a lot on the menu to choose from and everything was selling quickly!

I tried a frangipane tart and a lemon cheesecake, whilst my sister and dad had chocolate muffins. The desserts were delicious, the frangipane tart was my favourite overall as it was light and fluffy with a nutty almond-topped crust. The cheesecake was light and creamy, but I felt that the ratio was not quite right as there was a lot of cheesecake and not quite enough biscuit. I do like a fair bit of biscuit in my cheesecakes!

All the desserts I saw looked mouth-watering. There was a big window display at the front of the store that was stacked with desserts -- there was a lot of people wandering past and stopping to look at the colourful display.

Patisserie Valerie was really busy on bank holiday Monday, but the fact that the store had both takeaway and eat-in options helped a lot. All the staff were really helpful and there was a constant queue forming, but the staff served people quickly. The store itself did feel a little cramped, but that may have been because of the volume people passing through. We were sat by the front window next to the display and it was good to be able to see some of the entertainment. However, the queue was directly in front of us and it felt a little close, with people watching us eat!

Overall I would definitely go back to try some of the other offerings at a quieter time. I would give Patisserie Valerie four out of five stars for this visit.
