New Community Hub, News Site and Events Calendar Launches in Telford

New Community Hub, News Site and Events Calendar Launches in Telford

2017-05-20
| by Editor | Posted in Telford News, Telford Business

Telford Daily PRSS, a new online hub, news site and events calendar – with a mission to help to raise awareness of local charities – has launched in Telford to provide an all-inclusive online portal for the local community.

Aggregating RSS feeds from the best local news sites, bloggers, schools, community groups and charities, as well as publishing press releases that promote communities and businesses in the local area, Telford Daily PRSS has already started to attract a regular following within just a few weeks of launch.

“Although the site is built around the news feed, it is only a small part of what we aim to do,” explains TDP’s editor, Simon Calaby.

“We have an excellent community events calendar, which is completely free and open to anyone who would like to add their local Telford events – whatever they may be – whether it’s a pub quiz night, a school fete, or a huge local festival.

“Oakengates Theatre has already loaded all of their shows for the remainder of 2017. What’s more, once an event is loaded to our calendar, and we’ve approved it, we’ll help with local promotion of the event via our growing social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

“However, the most important aspect for us is supporting the amazing work of the local charities and not-for-profit community groups in Telford.

“Next week, TDP will launch a charities page on the site, which offers every local charity a space to display their logo and bio, with links to their website and social media channels. We will be working with the charities and community groups to get their message out there through blogs, press releases and social media promotion, all at no cost to them.”

Telford Daily PRSS pride themselves on being a completely inclusive community hub with no political affiliation and simply wishing to promote everything good about the Telford area.

To support the free of charge events calendar and charity promotion, Telford Daily PRSS is offering community partnership opportunities to Telford-based businesses.

“We are looking for one community partner in each sector,” says Simon. “For example, one hairdresser, one plumber, one nail salon, one cleaning business, one dog trainer, one mobile phone shop etc., that will join forces with us as a site sponsor.

“We offer our community partners multiple benefits, including regular social media promotion, joint competitions, the opportunity to blog and promote themselves via our newsfeed, and of course a banner advert on the TDP site. Our packages start from just £50 a month.

“Our community partners can also act as local experts who provide advice to our readers,” Simon continues, “an excellent example is our lovely community partner, Sharon Kelly, a Telford-based dog trainer who is starting a regular series of articles for our Telford Pets section. The first one provided tips for when you’re thinking of buying a new puppy in the area.”

Part of the wider Daily PRSS network, Telford Daily PRSS is run by local Telford resident, Simon Calaby, and supported by his wife, Libby.

Simon and Libby moved to the Telford area from Suffolk in 2003 to be nearer to family, initially residing in Much Wenlock, before getting married in 2004. They moved into Telford and settled in Trench in 2005. Simon and Libby have two daughters who attend local schools.
